Sara Ehrhardt: the wrong person for Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth

Something Rotten - Peter, Paula and Sara Ehrhardt

On August 19th, two days before the deadline, the heavily favoured incumbent Paula Fletcher announced she was withdrawing from the race to be re-elected as City Council member for Toronto-Danforth

The next day, school board Trustee Sara Ehrhardt filed her papers to run for the newly vacant Toronto-Danforth position

People were suspicious of Paula Fletcher's actions

One person wrote on Reddit, "a heavily favourite incumbent (Fletcher) waits until the last moment to withdraw to clear the way for her successor (Sara Ehrhardt). Gross"

Another person on Reddit summarized what happened very succinctly. Paula Fletcher made it seem like she was going to run again so that no one else entered the race in her Ward. Then Fletcher, behind the scenes, made sure her chosen successor Sara Ehrhardt would be ready to enter the race. Then Fletcher waited until the last minute to exit the race, leaving little time for another legitimate contender to get organized.

NDP MPP Peter Tabuns had long supported Paula Fletcher, and she him. But Tabuns was there supporting Sara Ehrhardt at City Hall when she filed her papers and spoke to the meeting. In other words, Peter Tabuns knew all along what Paula Fletcher's plan was and he helped her execute it.

On the same day, Peter Tabuns tweeted his support for Sara Ehrhardt on X.com, not even blinking an eye that Paula Fletcher had exited the race.

X.com user Ben Carter wrote below Peter Tabuns' endorsement, "The timing of this whole thing really smells. Toronto-Danforth voters deserve honesty. Peter did not respond to this comment."

Another one of Tabuns' followers asked, "How long have you known that Sara would be running". Tabuns ignored this question as well.

A third follower of Tabuns pointed out that Tabuns had sent a newsletter around the same morning and he pretended not to know what Sara Ehrhardt's plans were.

Trade-War Sara

Another problem with Sara Ehrhardt is her inexperience. Just as things were heating up in the trade war with the United States, Sara Ehrhardt used the American company NationBuilder.com for her campaign website (Are there no website developers in Toronto???) Of course, she got this idea from Oliva Chow who did the same thing. Sara has no business experience and doesn't really think for herself. She is simply going to repeat the mistakes of the people who organized her campaign. Sara Ehrhardt lives in a world where she doesn't think about how things get paid for.
